  1. I used to have the greatest time baking with my mom. She was always really tidy but let us get right in there and make a huge mess when it came to baking. I hope to share this with my daughter when she's old enough.

  2. I don't have any specific memories, but one was letting us have the whole basement to create all our own little imaginative worlds. We had a wooden playhouse, shelves, a bench that we made into a boat, dolls, books to play school, etc. Now I see the value of my children having their own dedicated space to play, create, and just be -- without adult intervention, but respect for open-ended imaginative play.

  4. My mom was really good at trying anything with us even if she wasn't good at it :) Some of my best memories come from this quality :) I now do the same with my little guy

  5. With 4 kids, my mom didn't have that much disposable income, but still managed to find ways to organize family vacations to Disneyland, camping, etc, with us every few years. Even though we missed our flight to Disneyworld and car broke down on our roadtrip on the way to Disneyland, those were what created memories for us.

I try to plan family vacations every couple of years with our family now to create those memories for my daughter.

  6. My mom breasted all of her kids even though she found it difficult. I also had a very difficult time with breastfeeding. Knowing that my mom had had problems and stuck with it and succeeded inspired me to do the same. I am so glad I followed in her footsteps because it has given me an incredible bond with my son...and made me appreciate my mom all the more for what she did for me :)

  7. My Mom used to let us take the day off school so we could shop and do our nails and go out for lunch... it was a total girls day and it was even better cause you got the day off school... it is one of my greatest treasured memories... although my DD is too young yet for me to do this... I know that this will be something we do together in the years to come !!! Love ya' Mom !!!

  8. My mom use to help my brother and I build forts in our rooms on rainy days. I remember it was so much fun building them and then playing in them. She was always so creative that way! Now, I try and help my little guys build blanket forts in our house and play with them on rainy days. It is always so much fun :O)
